So far, Chaz is down 45 pounds. You will see me on the new episode of The Doctor’s TV Show with Chaz, which  airs today. You may be wondering how has he arrived at the halfway point of his goal in such a short time. In the beginning, the meal plan I designed limited grains. I removed dairy, soy, sugar and made sure he got plenty of protein, veggies, good fats and supplemented his plan with a detox shake like this one. The weight literally fell off of him! All species are born with defense mechanisms, including plants. Quinoa is actually closer to a seed than a grain. Part of a plant’s defensive mechanism is the outer coating of the seed itself....

Featured on The magic number: 40. You’ve heard all the cliches…it’s when your birthday cards from friends begin announcing “Over the Hill”. I prefer the one, “Life begins at 40”. That being said, our bodies do begin to shift as we reach the magic number. Back in our 20s we could eat, drink and be merry and do a few minutes in the gym and be as good as new. Grain Free Peach Cobbler

Posted by on Aug 30, 2011 in Blog, Food, Recipes, Uncategorized | 1 comment

My recent trip back to my home state of North Carolina inspired this recipe. Growing up in NC, peach cobbler was always a favorite. We used to buy it from this great family owned restaurant. I wanted to make a grain free, sugar free version that I could enjoy without the GUILT, bloat and sugar CRASH that often accompanies such a dessert. When I made this, the whole house was permeated by the aroma of cinnamon, nutmeg and peaches. My family devoured it within minutes. Ingredients: Filling: 8 peaches, peeled, pitted and sliced thin 1/4 cup xylitol 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon 1/8 tsp ground...
